biography
Jacob Derwig (1969) has been a member of Toneelgroep Amsterdam from 2005 till 2012. He has performed in Roman Tragedies, La Grande Bouffe, Antonioni Project, Opening Night and Teorema and also appeared in Hedda Gabler, Antigone-Kreon-Oedipus and The Russians!. His role in To Damascus earned him a nomination for the Louis d’Or 2008, while his part in Opening Night earned him one for the Arlecchino 2006 (best male supporting role) and he was rewarded with the Louis d’Or 2011 for his part in Children of the Sun. In 2008 he received the Paul Steenbergen-medal from Pierre Bokma.
Before he started at TA, Derwig was a permanent member of ‘t Barre Land and De Trust (1995-1999). He played the title role in the much-praised Hamlet, for which he received a nomination for the Louis d’Or. In addition to the theatre, he also starred in the television series In therapie [In therapy] and in various films. He was awarded a Gouden kalf (best actor) for his role in Zus & Zo [Siblings & such].
