Katelijne Damen (1960) is a theatre, television and film actress. In the theatre she has worked with (among others) Luk Perceval, Erik De Volder, Ivo van Hove and Guy Cassiers. For television she has worked with Guido Henderickx, Frank Van Passel, Jan Mathys and others. She regularly appears in films, too, such as in Peter Monsaert’s Offline. She is one of the Toneelhuis’ permanent actors.

Damen has worked with companies like the Blauwe Maandag Compagnie, Het Zuidelijk Toneel, De Koe and the Ro Theater. In 1990 she won the Theo d’Or prize for her role in the stage play Strange Interlude; in 1996 she was awarded the Mary Dresselhuys prize for “her total commitment to theatre and her oeuvre”, and in 2006 she received a Colombina nomination for her role in Hersenschimmen.

At Toneelhuis she appeared in De geruchten Mefisto for ever, Atropa. De wraak van de vrede, in Bloed & rozen, MCBTH, Hamlet vs Hamlet, De blinden, Maria Stuart and Caligula. In 2013 she and Guy Cassiers created Orlando, based on Virginia Woolf’s novel.

In 16|17 Damen can be seen in the premières of De dingen die voorbijgaan and in Grensgeval, directed by Guy Cassiers. The monologue Orlando, which she performs and for which she designed the costume and adapted the text, is to be revived, while De welwillenden will go on tour in France, Italy and Spain.
 
She recently appeared in the successful television series De smaak van de Keyser, which was also highly rated internationally. In 2012 she appeared in Peter Monsaert’s film Offline and in 2013 she had a significant role in the crime series De Ridder.
