Tartuffe, will be co-produced by NTGent. Under the direction of Dimiter Gotscheff (Volksbühne, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Deutsches Theater Berlin), this satire about hypocritical frauds and naive do-gooders is liberally sprinkled with passages from the Bible and Heiner Müller. Gotscheff is an important and highly acclaimed director in German-language theatre. In 2005 he was awarded Director of the Year for his production of Ivanov, and two years later the German critics acclaimed The Persians as the best production of the year. Gotscheff is a well-kept secret in the Netherlands, but Tartuffe will soon change that!
