Eelco Smits (1977) has been a member of Toneelgroep Amsterdam since 2005.

In season 17|18 he will perform in the premieres of From the life of the marionettes (director Nanouk Leopold) and May we be forgiven (director Guy Cassiers) and in the revivals of Song from Far Away (written by Simon Stephens especially for Eelco Smits), Kings of war and Roman Tragedies.

Smits played before at TA in The glass menagerie (nomination Arlecchino), Angels in America, Antonioni Project, Teorema, Summer Trilogy, Phaedra, Ghosts, Tartuffe, The miser, The Seagull, Mourning becomes Electra, The Russians!, Nora, Hamlet vs Hamlet, Liliom, Opening Night, Mary Stuart, The taming of the shrew, Macbeth, Rocco and his brothers, Britannicus, Oresteia, Perfect wedding, Madame de Sade, Keetje van heilbron and Uncle Wanja.

Before he received his permanent position he appeared as a guest player in Keetje van Heilbron and Uncle Wanja. Before he came to TA, Eelco Smits was a member of the Ro Theater. He was on stage with them in Leonce and Lena, Portia Coughlan and as the young Marcel Proust in the impressive theatre cycle In search of lost time.
